The crowd was vulgar. Imagine booing someone because they were geeky and dorky, then applauding them and heaping praise on them 5 minutes later because they have a talent. I found the whole video sickening for the projection that was displayed (wiki; psychological projection if you have no idea what that means).
As for the girl, good voice. Not spectacular, but very good, IMO.
