I can't remember a more ineffectual Liberal leader in a long time and I go back a good while. Maybe she's on a par with Billy McMahon and most people probably don't even remember that far back.
If she stays in the job, write off the next election now. And that's not good for the country. An effective opposition is essential for good government because any government must have an opposition breathing down its neck.
The now prevailing view that a defeated leader has to resign is a flawed view. On that basis Menzies would never have made a comeback to lead the country effectively for 23 years.
