:Ban live exports and the markets would evaporate and the prices would fall affecting local jobs."

    ScoobyDoobieDo,

The call to ban live animal exports is not something recent, and the response that such ban will destroy jobs in that industry has often been put up to support not to ban live export.

The thing is, the players in this industry have had more than enough time to refocus the way they earn their living. It is totally unacceptable to make a living out of inhumane treatments of innocent animals. Our government should have the morality and moral courage to ban NOW export of live animals.

Decades ago there was loud outcries when slavery trades were banned because it was claimed the ban would destroy the livelihood of the people who engaged in tradings of slaves. BUT, have a look around now, decades later the world is so much a better place without slavery.

Innocent animals have no voice to speak up for themselves, it is for people who have a moral conscience to speak up loudly for them.

It is totally unacceptable in a civilised society for some to engage in any business that inflicts cruelty to animals !!!!
