The function of the futures market is to protect producers against price moves.
The futures market is very volatile and can go into negative territory very quickly. Coal fell 17% in 5 days.
You would have noticed history being made when Oil went to -7 the other year. Amazing.
I am not sure what your chart is trying to prove.
