Provisions on obstacles to investigation work can be found in Chapter 3. Sections 6 and 7 of the Swedish Mineral Act that impose restrictions on the license holder's right to carry out an investigation. It follows from these provisions that investigation work must not take place within the national park or area that a government authority of the government has requested to be allocated to a national park. Investigation work must also not be done in contravention of regulations that have been issued for nature or cultural reserves under Chapter 7. Environmental Code. Permits for certain activities and measures are required within special protection and conservation areas according to Chapter 7. § 28 a – 29 b §§ of the Environmental Code, (so-called Natura 2000 areas).
Research work must also not take place, without the consent of the county administrative board, within :
- two hundred meters from protection objects according to the Protection Act (2010: 305) and such area outside of this, which the government decides,
- cemetery or other cemetery, or
- area referred to in Chapter 4, Section 5 of the Environmental Code, so-called unbroken mountain area.
