And up goes a petition to stop the mine! So it seems they're going to 'appeal' to change a law (I kinda thought that would be lobbying the Government to do that, not make an 'appeal') to then make a merit appeal possible so if said law comes in it would also be retrospective I guess. My head hurts on this thinking.

"Unfortunately, under current planning laws, an appeal can only be made against a decision to approve a mine if it can be shown the IPC didn’t follow process, NOT that they failed to take into account the merits of the overwhelming evidence showing the unmanageable impacts of the proposed mine.We are going to appeal the decision to approve the mine so we can protect our region. To do that, we have to get the planning laws changed and that means we need supporters and a strong VOICE from people like yourself."
