Agreed. We are a debt based society, our economy NEEDS debt to survive and thrive.
Just a theory being thrown around:
One of the problems faced by Governments who are desperate for inflation is that banks are reluctant to lend at current low rates, despite the increase in stimulus being pumped into the banks which increases their lending capacity. One reasons banks are still relatively tight with lending is the risk to reward factor, low interest rates and smaller margins provides little incentive for banks to lend to consumers, especially with Oz in the middle of a property bubble which may pop at any time, add to this the inherent risk of businesses failing which makes banks reluctant to loan commercially and we see why there is extremely low velocity.
The fix? Two possible scenarios - Either a big crash and 10 year depression or .......... A new 100% Digital dollar with negative rates on deposits and a higher lending rate which will increase the banks profit margins, this will push money out of institutions, promote banks to ease lending restrictions to consumers and business and pump money into the economy as a whole forcing velocity and inflation. Investors seeking to maintain their wealth and better returns will purchase stocks, cryptos, housing and Precious Metals.
Either of these two options would see the real value of gold and silver skyrocket!
