Our domestic steel producers are to expensive for our steel fabricators to compete eg auto makers ,resource infrastructure etc.So these fabricators import cheaper steel from china which makes their finished product more competitive.Now the govt may introduce a 15.45% tariff to protect our domestic steel industry.
It wont,our steel makers are globally uncompetitive because of various input costs eg taxes,energy,benefits etc amazing when you think one actually owns a IO mine.
But now with the introduction of a 15.45% tariff our steel fabrication industry will be uncompetitive.
