I disagree. I think the decision to block MM is more based on politics than the stated reason. I think at the moment the government is a concerned that they may be perceived to be too close to the Chineses. With a madarin speaking PM, ministers (Rudd, Swan, Fitzy, etc) all having had trips to China paid for by Chinese.
There is simply nothing going on at Woomera to eavesdrop on. Even the American "secret" base at Narrungar has closed down. Nothing is going on, and don't forget that the mine site will still be sovereign Australian soil, under Australian laws, with many Australian workers.
I am nervous about what the banks will do now without the MM guarantee. Hopefully the Govt has considered this and made representation. I suspect the bavks will roll over the credit for another month to wait and see.
I had hoped that Ozl would trade out of this and had seen some positive signs with the rise in prices.
