If anyone is interested about Minerals Corporation's Swan River Kaolin Proect in WA, the pilot plant was fully commisioned at the end of last month and is currently working flat out producing high brightness filler kaolin for trials at 3 of the worlds major paper producers.
The kaolin is of exceptional quality for a paper filler grade with a brightness higher than any Grade A produced and sold by the major supliers worldwide.
The Swan Kaolin is of major interest to these producers as it has several advantages in being whiter than other fillers, low abrasion characteristics and zero chemical addition during processing. Swan have manged to process the WA deposit without the need for chemical alteration and using minimal water. This also will be an advantage in producing Pharmaceutical grade kaolins.
In addition, the plant has been visited by many influential people here in WA including the Premier, Alan Carpenter who announced a major power upgrade for the site whilst he was there so that any major plant has sufficient power to operate.
