Sydney Swans unlikely to risk Adam Goodes, Gary Rohan also in doubt
Updated 14 minutes ago
Sydney coach John Longmire said the Swans can beat Carlton in their semi-final clash on Saturday with or without star Adam Goodes.
A decision will be made after training this afternoon whether Goodes will play his first match since injuring his knee three months ago.
While Longmire hopes dual premiership player Goodes will be given the all clear to play he doesn't think his absence would be significant to his side's chances against the Blues
"I mean he hasn't played for quite a while and we have played some pretty competitive football in our time without him," Longmire said.
"Does he help us win? Certainly at his best he does. We have just got to work out how far away from his best he is."
"We'll sit down when we've got all the facts in front of us after training today and discuss it with Adam and decide whether he plays or not depending on how he goes today."
While there is hope Goodes will play, the fairytale comeback of Sydney midfielder Gary Rohan may have come to an end.
Rohan, who has played four games since making an earlier than expected return from breaking his leg in round four of last year, has not been able to train freely this week.
Longmire expects Jarrad McVeigh will play, despite injuring his knee in last Friday night's qualifying final loss to Hawthorn.
