Using large numbers of floating devices may have other drawbacks as well. If it takes two hundred devices to power eight thousand homes, a very big chunk of ocean and many more devices will be required to power a much larger town.

I would think the bigger the number of devices the bigger the chance that some would come adrift in a monster storm. The higher energy on the surface would make the likelihood of this happening greater.

Imagine the mess if several devices in the middle of the array were to break free.
