"Orange juice and Pineapple on some complex chemistry level may make gout worse but they are not acid forming foods. They are both alkaline forming foods!"

I will beg to differ on that point as OJ has high levels of sugar that will be acid forming in the body, grapefruit however has near no sugar content just like a lemon and is said to be alkaline forming in the body ... the same goes for all natural occurring concentrations of sugar in my way of thinking. That is not to say these types of natural foods should be totally avoided, just eaten and drank sparingly.

This view may even be vindicated by the new research that points to the sugary soft drink as adding to a gout problem. Sugar I believe is low in purines but now these guys are saying it is harmful in high concentration as found in soft drinks. It makes sense then that someone drinking excessive amounts of sugary OJ will suffer a similar problem.

    Just my view.

The rest of what you write I do completely agree with.
