Maybe small profit from them. (Probably not worth a big marketing spend, but if you can gain them organically) You can see that Commsec cares to do it.
But for me, there's a benefit from the brand awareness of having more users.
The younger generation of small-portfolio users would be quicker to 'swap' brokers (to SWF if they cut prices for small trades), and might tell their family to join too. The older users will be the more sticky ones.
