    I actually quite like the Indian Film stuff - not sure of the details of the financials behind it etc, but may have legs. Key difference (from my limited investigations) is that they are actually producing the films etc ... if they we're just doing distro like the Orchard stuff I'd be pretty negative on it.

    Distribution companies can and often are good businesses, but generally should be privately owned - not listed (in my opinion).

    The real value in any business is owning the end customer or owning the 'product' - middle men come and go and are generally ripe for commoditisation.

    In respect to the previous posts on the Virgin / HMV distribution ... its easy to get people to distribute your product, its hard to find people to actually sell it. When they annouce they have sold their first 100k CD's through the channel I'll take notice. Most distro agreements take a fair while to get traction, and generally it has to be easy and lucrative for the end seller to make money.
