However just a few more facts
The Spanish lady spread throughout the world to isolated places like alaska, falklands island and 100's of remote places around the world in a time when there was no jet travel.
The count will never be known but it was probably 80 million people plus that died. They died from BLOOD bursting out inside their lungs due to the virus.
So it was the most vicious virus of for most recent times.
It had a similarity to todays swine flu in that it attacked more commonly young healthy people aged 16-30 which was very unusual at the time.
It probably was the result of a mutation in a virus that occured as early as April 1916 but its verocity did not become evident till 1917-1918.
It also "burnt" itself out and vanished by 1920.
Yes, we can certainly learn from this virus.
Its mode of transmission was obviously people but did birds also help?
Certainly those days were the most terrifying for the populations BUT I think we are always going to remember also that todays greatest enemy to our lives are always going to be the virusees and bacteria!
