It's a terrible analogy. With shares, you could reasonably expect an increase in share price as earnings and underlying asset values increase. When you're in college, you know that you won't have an increase in income until you complete the degree.

I agree with MarsC that UOS are good value and that there are a range of reasons to have confidence in their future performance. I also agree with Klogg that you need to take a long term view and have patience - I'm a long term holder and have seen years of very little share price movement. Most ASX listed developers with exposure to NSW/Vic have strongly outperformed UOS over the last couple of years, so those who were impatient and moved into other listed developers would likely have experienced a better result.
