I think it's a great analogy. You know while you're at University that your intrinsic earning power has increased, but it isn't immediately apparent in your actual 'value' in the marketplace.
But eventually, the underlying earning power will be reflected in your wage (the share price).
You see it all the time with shares, that perhaps a 50% increase in the repeatable/normal earning capacity of the business might happen, and yet the share price does nothing. The all of a sudden, often with no apparent cause, it pops - Eternalgrowth
