So there is the wise and fools. Some definitions of fool mention moral deficiency, support for my idea sin is an opposite to wisdom. We could consider that people fall somewhere with in a spectrum between wisdom and sin. One extreme are the fools some of which probably have mental disorders preventing them from learning from experience or controlling their behaviour. At the other extreme are the very wise who are often depicted as very independent, solitary and living very simple unassuming lives. In the middle are the mass of humanity. These people probably fluctuate between the two states to varying degrees. Whole communities can on occasion lose there sense and pursue some folly. Like the Nazis's in WW2 or share holders in a rally before a collapse.
In my opinion wisdom is a state and foolishness or sin is a state. You can take a fool and with effort train him to be wise. If necessary give him medication. A wise man can be transformed into a fool with probably less effort, man is probably more inclined to folly than wisdom.
