- a lot of mines in the area. electricity and water for use is in the area.
- labour nearby.
- mining has been done in the past - previous owner was anglo in the 1970s, hence the area is relatively more well known.
- access to uncongested port
- current DCF's are strong.
weakness
- a few aquifers in the area. pumping or concealing water may be necessary to mine certain parts of the resource.
opportunity
- spin off of lime/hodgon projects.
- further coal price increases
- north section shows less overburden with thicker seams.
- other firms have successfully pumped water from operations in the past.
threats
- a lower coal price
- unable to get a permit to pump water
- unable to get access to port and rail
