The EOFY bargain game can be very lucrative.
Always the risk of getting it horribly wrong in a falling market of course but unless their numbers have deteriorated since May I would have thought this selling is more about tax time than fundamentals.
Having said that, after only just escaping COVID via a debilitating Capital Raise I was a little surprised to see them launch straight into a buyback with a view to ramping up their gearing again. Fortunately they seem to have paused before too much damage was done.
I'll be quite happy if they can put away their Capital Management yo-yo for a couple of years and just pay a consistent 8c+ pa FF Dividend. I reckon the return of a consistent dividend policy will do more for the share price than the buyback.
