My guess is this is not about the Saudis being terrible negotiators, this is about squeezing the life out of a very weak US shale industry to sure up prices longer term.
For the last 3 years, Russia and the Saudi’s have subsidised the existence of us shale and now is their chance to drive in the knife....short term pain for much longer term gain.
As for senex, well I’m starting to regret being as rusted on as I am because I am expecting next week to cost me lots of money
