Not sure why discussing politics here...however , ....before the gas attack Trump talking about getting out of Syria = Assad victory, after attack Trump and everyone drawn back in again. Why would Assad launch gas attack when he has for all intents and purposes already won militarily? What policies might Assad follow if back in full power? Who might be unhappy? Why are these questions not being asked? If retaliation bad for SP, at least in (hopefully) short term
