Ive lost all hope of saving my capital now. Chalk it up to a life lesson that big fat miners are only in it to make their own pockets fatter.
The only reason they would want to consolidate is to raise more cash as they are full of crap and aren't going to make any money or enough to ever buy back shares. They will just repeat the cycle of raising cash and paying themselves again for doing such a fabulous job.
