Weekly Review Li Stocks - 9th May 2025

Here is the weekly review figures and charts that I do every week. It is useful only for those interested in trading or those who hold multiple shares and based on performance would like to keep re-balancing as we go. I do hold a number of Li stocks and like to trade. This is the reason I include a number of Li Stocks in my analysis.I also have performances of Li stocks for 2024 and 2023 - for those interested in looking at longer term view.

    Please note:
This is no reflection of all AU Li stocks as I have only included those that I am interested. In my list are shares that I hold, held before or planning to buy in near future. Since this is my list, I may have missed some good stocks. The averages are simple averages and not weighted averages. So the average don't reflect AU Li average. This is just for my tracking and analysis. I have both ASX and US stocks in two separate figures.

Please note that all my analysis are from a trading perspective looking at short-term view.

This week I have not added any new stocks to list, so my list still contains 90 stocks.

    Lithium Sector Overview -
    .

    .
From a weekly perspective, SYA remained flat at 1.8. SYA is still playing Li macro. The Li macro has not yet improved. No clear signs of reversal yet. Spot price still tight, still doing small drops every week. So it looks like more wait for now. LTR did make a move this week, especially Friday, so lets see if that helps.

    .
    .
Major price action indicators were down -
    • ALB - loss of around 4%
    • Ganfeng - Gain of 3% for the week, Tianqi 2%
    • PLS/LTR - PLS flat for week, LTR big gain of 23%
    • Spot Price - Down slightly for the week, I think around 2 to 3%
    .
So what do these numbers say? The narrative around inconsistent play continues. I wrote last week that all jurisdictions (US/ASX/Chinese) need to go up together. Last week ALB was Ganfeng down. This week Ganfeng up, ALB down. So no overall move in the sector. Among big stocks, LTR had a big move last week, not sure why, take over offer? Among small to mid stocks, AZL/DLI also had a good gain. DLI on its news but AZL was a surprise. So at least we are seeing some good moves. Question is - can these moves be sustained? And more importantly, will it help other Li stocks or is an indication that sector may be bottoming? No confirmation on this yet. So another waiting game for now.
    .
So what may happen next week? On Friday, US Li stocks had small gain. General markets mixed. I think next week is crucial to see AZL/DLI/LTR play, and also seeing if both ALB/Ganfeng can make gains in tandem.
