A high proportion of freight will transfer to Western Sydney. Most of Sydneys Distribution Centres are based out west.
QANTAS has long disputed SYDs high charges and has publically stated they cant wait for a competitive market. A lot of Jetstar flights and QANTAS regional flights will operate from Western Sydney. QANTAS has the most to gain by fostering a competitive environment. They have a score to settle with SYD.
Ditto for Tiger/Virgin.
Budget international carriers are also likely to relocate think Air Asia, Scoot etc.
Don't forget Western Sydney will operate without a curfew unlike Mascot which is closed for 7 hours every day.
Western Sydney airport will take a lot of revenue from Mascot from Day 1.
