I feel that Australia needs a purpose built major international airport but were to build it seems to be the dilemma.
I suggest somewhere centrally located located between Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. Maybe Cobar or Hay area. Have a very fast train linking Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide airports to the new international airport.
The advantages would be many like security, jobs being located away from city hubs and there would be no night curfews of flights arriving or departing. There is also jobs created to build it and the infrastructure to support it.
Think about it, our cities are growing and the voices of more housing supply is getting louder to curb housing prices. So why build a international airport in any city presinct?
From my understanding, and I stand to be corrected, that the weather is drier on the western side of the Great Dividing Range so there will be less flight delays due to fog and other weather conditions.
I am open to any comments or suggestions.
