Firstly, having witnessed first hand the Black Saturday fires in Melb, I sincerenly hope all in the affected areas of Sydney stay safe.

Looking out my window, the conditions have detriorated rapidly over the last hour. The smoke I can see is from the Lithgow and Springwood fires that seem to be growing by the minute.

One thing that gets me with the authorities is the lack of communication regarding the pending wind change. This is what can kill. Yo think you are safe as the fires are burning parrallel or away from you then before you know it, you are in strife. This is what happened at Kinglake / Marysville with obvious dire consequence. If a fires burns from the say NW as is the case today with a small front, everything it burns becomes the front with a wind change on a much, much wider scale.

    Stay safe.
