Businesses will need to be careful.
Many, in a precarious financial position, will be taking
a serious risk spending cash on stock that will be
wasted if restrictions are reimposed on a whim by
the government. It will happen.
Heavy handed policing could see them closed if
they serve the "unclean" who are to be punished
without mercy, by government decree. It will
happen.
I understand many NSW Clubs are close to
bankruptcy and may fail immediately if they
spend money restocking and then are forced
to close due to further restrictions. These
businesses are so marginal they can't afford
not to invite all without discrimination but
are most at risk from the Wrath of Gladys
due to the hold the government has on them
through licencing laws.
It will be pretty ugly with people potentially
staying away out of fear or just the hassle of
getting into licenced premises and being bullied
and regimented by arbitrary rules while you are
there. Its easier to have a few friends around for
a drink at home. Dinner parties should make
a big comeback.
Don't expect the NSW Government to get any
of this right. Look at their track record so far.
they are hopeless.
