Did you see the interview of the old man ie ( father ) Assistant Commissioner. He said no one will lose their job, that was doing their job in the police force.
A nsw police officer can use no more force than is necessary to effect the arrest of a offender.
The offender was charged with drunk and disorderly and resist arrest. I am surprised the old assault police was not also used....
It comes down to the statement of the officer and offender and all witnesses involved now and the video evidence at hand.
there was a similar incident at the cricket about 10 years ago where a person was beaten and had a police officers boot and foot on his head for about 3 mintues while being restrained and beaten. The video tapes at the cricket ground mysteriously disappeared after the incident and then reappearred during the court case and investigation with 8 minutes of tape missing ( which was incidentally when the assault occurred) oh what a coincedence)...
Has anyone read todays sunday telegraph about the police memo sent out that compliants ( many its seems ) about police pulling out their badges at nightclubs and expecting special treatment and allowed to go to the head of the line to get in..... And driving drunken mates home in police vehicles which are being used as offical taxi,s. Also wanting special blue light rates at business's etc etc
Talk about a abuse of power. But i suppose all jobs have their lurks.....
