All good points, but travel time to work is very important to us.
5 to 6 years is short term for property, but there is nothing in the area for rent that we are interested in, and my wife doesn't like the restrictions and hassle associated with renting.
Agree that closer to Swan River and the beach we would not get much for what we may pay in Southern River, but we already own an old house on a relatively large riverfront block in East Fremantle, currently rented to long term tenants. Picked up the East Fremantle block post GFC for what I think was a bargain. Planning to demolish and start building on the East Fremantle block in 3 or 4 years, and expect that the build time will be up to 2 years.
