Not sure if that is your house, but some removeable shutters (made of simple corro) would be good for that big window.
Glass will break and the simple shutters stop most of the embers. I do suppose you have to be around to put them up :-)
Insurance Yes there is a fire levi/tax for all. Yes it is inflated to make a profit Yes it is increased due to higher risk areas/contracts Yes it is a personal choice to have it or the level of cover.
