Just spent a month in the deep south and Florida as well as a little time in Chicago and New York. My personal observations of nearly every retail outlet/bar/food service industry/walmarts etc all have "vacancies apply in store" signs everywhere. Alot of those downtown tent cities if not most house the unemployable (severe mental health issues compounded by years of drug and alcohol abuse). Unfortunately they'll never be able to maintain a job. The drug addicts at every set of traffic lights with signs can make $20 in about 45 mins and then head off to cop, back 2 hrs later to earn for next fix. The struggle is real.
