sympathise for syria

In Australia and other civilized nations apparently we’re entitled to protest peacefully as with many other places in the world, including Syria. But how do we react with protest’s that are not peaceful?

Let’s just speculate the idea that some of us aren’t so happy with our government, enough so that we would form a rebellion, arm ourselves with weapons, storm parliament house and take control?

Could you imagine the consequence to try this in Australia, UK or USA? Do you think the Police and Armed forces would standby and allow this to happen? Hell no, they would defend our government with brutal force no questions asked.

Now let’s look at Syria, people loathing at this horrific situation that has been unfolding for months on end, blaming how brutal Assad is towards his own people using military force etc. What do you think any other government around the world would do against armed insurgents? Roll out the red carpet and shake their hands?

Ironically our western governments are waging this “war on terror” yet we hold such double standards that we have the nerve to support and back these violent and deadly rebellion’s. I even heard Bob Carr say that it would be a good thing to see Assad get assassinated. Tell us what you really think Bob.

For me, it would seem to be quite simple to end all this nonsense. All that has to happen for the fighting to end in Syria is for those with guns in their hands to put them down. So why isn’t it happening?

Again the answer is simple and not just seemingly. The outside governments who are supporting the armed groups do not want them to put their weapons down. They have been deliberately locked into a cycle of violence which its enemies hope will end in its destruction, and sadly it is working.

This strategy is the prime cause of the death and devastation over which the sponsors of this violence have been wringing their hands before the UN General Assembly.

Agendas vary slightly but the prime goal of Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the governments of the US, Britain and France is not political reform but the destruction of Iran’s best friend in the region.

Syria is the central arch in a strategic relationship between Hezbollah, Syria and Iran. The fall of that central arch would give western governments one of their greatest strategic victories in the modern history of the Middle East. The wheels are in motion, it’s a one way street from here as it appears there will be no turning back for either side so it's just a matter of time.

A few weeks ago many of you may have seen the 60 minutes special about the fighting in Syria. This was clearly a spoon fed story handed to 60 minutes with the agenda of spreading propaganda against the Syrian government. As a flip side, why couldn’t 60 minutes fly to Damascus and interview Assad and the local people, to at least hear their side of the story? Of course, there are always two sides to a story but when political agendas are in play you only hear one.

I really sympathise for all these people in fighting in Syria, the rebels, the government forces, and all the inocent people who are being killed. Sad situation.

Enjoy your weekend people, no need to let the foul stench of democracy ruin your day.
