TIMES have been tough for investors in managed investment schemes (MIS), with Timbercorp and Great Southern in liquidation, litigation funders sniffing around the remains of the industry, and several plantation fire sales due to take place this year.

That hasn't stopped two of the higher-profile names in corporate Australia pouncing at the bottom of the market, with old mates John Singleton and Mark Carnegie rumoured to be part of consortium making a play for listed ARK Fund.
