    Hi @Grainofsand,

    Great question.

    Burns encompass three terms.

    1. Superficial burns. Damage to the epidermis and no scarring.

    2. Partial thickness burns . Damage to the epidermis and dermis. Can lead to scarring.

    3. Full thickness burns . Destroys epidermis and entire dermis. Permanent scarring.

Back in the old days it was called 1 st degree burns (1) , second degree burns (2) and third degree burns (3).Trouble was people were getting the first degree burns mixed up with the third degree burns and hospital notifications were affected.

Hypertrophic scar occur when the body overproduces collagen which causes the scar to be raised above the surrounding skin. Hypertrophic scars take the form of a red raised lump on the skin for lighter pigmented skin and the form of dark brown for darker pigmented skin. They usually occur within 4 to 8 weeks following wound infection or wound closure with excess tension and/or other traumatic skin injuries.

Keloid scars form to protect injured skin, such as burns or acne scars. They may flatten over time, but some people may prefer to have them surgically removed. When skin is injured, fibrous tissue called scar tissue forms over the wound to repair and protect the injury. In some cases, extra scar tissue grows, forming smooth, hard growths called keloids.

Unlike current standards of care like steroids, surgery, compression, SNT-6302 holds promise as a non-invasive treatment that could potentially reverse existing keloid scarring as well as prevent new scarring when used prophylactically after wound healing.

    https://biotechdispatch.com.au/news/pharmaxis-reports-positive-results-from-trial-of-pxs6302

Phase 1c trial, PXS-6302 safely reduced LOX activity by 66% in established scars and removed up to 50% of excess collagenSyntara has an oral pan-LOX inhibitor called SNT-5505
in Phase 2 trials for myelofibrosis, with plans for trials in burns and scarring.

My thoughts are that the "younger" the scar treatment with a pan-lox inhibitor, the more beneficial it will be for patients.
