IMERYS constructed a thermal purification system in Bodio, Switzerland in 2006 to create high purity coarse flake and micronized flake graphite for fuel cells, alkaline, lubricants, carbon brush, PM, polymers and primary battery applications. Since IMERYS Graphite & Carbon is within the energy solutions and specialties division of IMERYS, it is near impossible to obtain costing for their thermal purification operation, hence difficult to add to my thermal purification analysis, including the hydro input costs in China.
IMERYS' expanded graphite is produced in Terrebonne, QC Canada from graphite salts produced the their Chinese facility. IMERYS Graphite & Carbon Expanded graphite is sold to fuel cells, ceramics, polymers, and primary batteries under the brands TIMERX and C-Therm.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Timcal Jing Yuan Graphite (Baotou) Co. Ltd... formerly known as Baotou Jingyuan Graphite Co., Ltd . They're the ones supplying expanded graphite from "natural" flake into the Asian markets. It is not entirely sources from Canada as you have suggested.
Imerys own 85% of all issued stock. Well worth investigating who exactly owns the remaining 15%, and what other interests they currently have.
Cheers.
