Hi Tony,
The reference by Stecyk - CEO Griffin Securities - to "partnerships spanning other applications of the platform such as animal health, agriculture and industrial" makes a lot more sense in the context of negotiating with a multinational conglomerate corporation. How many contacts could Watt and Woolf have across the animal health, agriculture and industrial sectors? The development of a relationship with a company like Biacore, however, could open up multiple partnering opportunities through one conglomerate i.e. GE.
Tony, wonderful discovery in the fine print of a patent.
The following extract from your research;
"Biacore is a life science products company, based in Sweden specializing in measuring protein-protein interaction and binding affinity."
It just so happens that protein-protein interaction (PPI) is getting more airplay in Phylogica's presentations and announcements e.g. "we have increased our ability to source phylomers that can block disease-related protein-protein interactions, which have proved challenging for other therapeutic approaches, including other peptide platforms", Chairman's Update March 2013.
In the AsiaTIDES presentation, slide 16 relates to Phylogica's Unique Technology Combination. Second dot point is the Efficient Blockade of Target Protein-Protein Interactions in vivo.
Whether Phylogica is currently utilising Biacore technology to screen for PPI is the leading question!
BioExec pointed out that "the drug industry has been looking for peptides that cross and disrupt intracellular protein-protein interactions for a long long time...", refer his post 30 November 2012.
Jeremy Curnock Cook said upon his appointment as Director;
"...it is not often that one has the opportunity to help grow a company, which controls global access to a new source of proprietary therapeutics." Stecyk said, "the phylomer platform is a world-changing technology..".
Biacore (and/or Isogenica and Phenomica) could be the ideal synergistic collaborators for Phylogica to forge a powerful peptide discovery company.
Regards,
Wayne.
