The worsening climate report will only add more pressure on switching to renewables. This in turn will see new govt regulations spurring even more investment into the sector.
The only way to get this done to meet the new timeframes is basically doubling Balama's current 350ktpa production rate. It doesn't matter which battery type you make, NCM or LFP, both still require graphite and lithium to work. There are no current substitutes like there are for nickel, cobalt and manganese.
Synthetic graphite production will also take a hit. It's highly pollutant to manufacture and requires a lot of dirty power from coal fired power stations in China. China itself has been smashed by floods in the last couple of weeks.
