They're just the integrated wantabies. Some of those larger production targets are aspirational. There are also AAM producers only like POSCO, Graphex etc who don't have a mine so they need to buy flake graphite.
As we know China currently produces 100% of spherical graphite so the flake export numbers to ex-China countries are to those who have graphite processing plants for industrial uses. SYR did report in one of the recent quarterlies they managed to sell some larger size flake. Hopefully they'll be able to sign a few small off-takes because they need to shift the larger size flake so it doesn't clog up their storage area.
i suspect these are just rocky days dealing with Macro factors. hard to watch as well, but trust in the passage of time - exactly. It will be interesting to see how it plays out however building mines and AAM plants and calibrating the plants is a time consuming exercise.
As I've said in the past, investing in graphite isn't for the faint hearted with all the geopolitics and everything else in play. Sometimes I wish I'd never heard of the word graphite. Like everybody else I was pretty naive when I bought in. I didn't expect the market to be this complicated ROFL
