Fiat money!
So how does billions, trillions of dollars pre 2007 suddenly disappear into a wisp of smoke?
Well maybe it didn't....
Maybe like a monopoly game of escalating paper price movements and shifting of ownership
Maybe paper wealth has inflated stock share property prices that the sellers got paid for, then reinvested again and again pumping up the baloon called wealth
And when someone says pull the plug, get out now..... All that tremendous wealth of shares and super is revealed as a piece of paper crammed with useless numbers all over it
But where did the real cash the hard earned the savings go that originally bought that stock?
Maybe that original small amount is still there and that is all the enormous paper wealth has come back to
Monopoly at the endgame like monopoly at the beginning of the game where all the property is zero and all the money is back in the bank
Maybe it's just a game where those who have all the money don't particularly want to work and those who are poor then need to work to survive
And at the extreme of capitalism where everyone is wealthy then no one wants to works you have to forage for yourself (and noone needs loans from banks ) because money is so plentiful that it has no leverage to make other wealthy people work for you... as in who bakes the bread and feeds the chooks
Other extreme (communism) is where everyone is poor and has to work.... except those at the top with an army who need to be comfortable and free to keep everyone (else) at the same poor level
Our western system sits somewhere around the middle oscilating in between those extremes buffeted by the voyage into policies of the more extreme left and extreme right governments causing booms and crashes... wealth and poverty.... where "greed" is the carrot and where there seems no "stick" large enough to apply to the most greedy... just more and more carrots
Let's hope the RC puts together a large enough stick
Just my opinion G48
