Great article @CaymanCeltic
Another great point regarding those wondering about telco's unlimited plans:
A) They are not improving the ARPU ( average revenue per user) for the telcos. It is the OLD race to the bottom by Telcos to try and compete for market share.
B) unlimited data plans are expensive & users get throttled at a certain point around 22G for some plans. At that point speeds are dropped & video quality suffers especially if users are trying to binge on content.
C) Content and quality of experience
Content may be king, but quality is queen. The challenge is that providers will have to offer content and experiences compelling enough to keep people engaged and coming back for more.
Bring on Freeway Overpass by Syntonic where users can select what content they can binge on without affecting their current data plan for minimal cost. Effectively Freeway provides a user customised low cost & high quality content solution to binge on the content users are habitually consuming without counting towards their existing data plan.
A win/win/win/win plan/solution for Telcos like Verizon, content providers, consumers & SYT.
All in my humble opinion & worth remembering. GLTAH
