Philw, ASX and ASIC do not guarantee the net short figures... in fact the gross short figures are also suspect (having played with these via CFDs to prove a point...and not seen a corresponding report).
So a guide only. Ask your broker!
Many CFD providers 'delta' positions, so the numbers are a bit of a lottery.
The smarties will be grinning today imo.
