There is no CGT relief unless there is a year between purchase date and sell date. In this example if you get cash in a takeover then you will be up for the full CGT. In you get a share swap then provided you don't sell the new shares until 12 months after you bought the initial Hardman shares then you will be entitled to the 50% CGT relief
