Let’s say a party were recruited/proposed to use their position to influence a stock value (bad guy) so as to allow a very large party (current shareholder likely) to swoop in and save the free falling price (appears as hero) by offering a slight premium to passing price to delight of panicked investors meanwhile they pick up assets worth 5x buyout price and who knows what others deals lay in the pipeline.
influencers get a nice little gift on successful completion of scheme.
Poor silly ignorant retail investor.
Outrageous conjecture yet possible.
