I caught up with some mining types over the weekend who have been following Caz and they brought my attention to an interesting twist to the Caz saga.
Based on their knowledge of the industry and the Act, they understand that the Minister only has the ability to over rule on Public Interest Grounds on a Mining Lease. Caz has been granted an Exploration License. There is a big difference between a Lease and a Licence (apparently?) and therefore the Minister does not have authority, without introducing retrospective legislation, to over rule an Exploration License. Makes sense to me. Not being a research kind of guy is it possible to get some comment from the likes of T4P and Spov or any other intelligent commentators based on some researched facts?
