Actually comparing the charts to the stars is a pretty good analogy I reckon- it really depends on how you use them and what you expect from them. Some people use them for navigation- to get a sense of where they are and what action they should take when travelling a difficult journey- and of course some people are much better at reading the stars than others. And some people look at the stars and see nothing but a meaningless bunch of twinkling lights. Others even believe they can predict the future...
