If it is true then the value comes from proving up a sizeable resource next to a cashed up NST.

Probably more value for shareholders in selling a big resource to NST rather than meddle around with 20k-40k oz per annum with lower economies of scale.

I could easily be wrong in my speculation on that point - but the possibility is that there is discussions about purchase.

That would explain why NXM has taken on a new exploration project (porphyry style gold/copper which just happens to be Andrew Tudor's speciality).

Imagine a cashed up NXM setting Tudor loose on an exploration extravaganza.. Could be interesting.
