I'm working my way through the USGS report, fascinating reading. Thanks!

The Macquarie Arc is certainly statistically special in Australia for porphyries, although we already knew that from that great science, nearology.

I was really interested by some of their forecasting for discoveries and potential grade and tonnage models. Statistics won't put gold or copper in the ground for us but the result of their analysis is compelling in giving confidence for what might be discovered. Looking at 2 snips:

This is where I'm getting clued in by why KCC keeps emphasising how strong the evidence is that they have entered a mineralised system (or two?). It's not just about their hope, s of finding the core, it's the scale of what probability suggests they will find IF they find it:
Nothing (ie not mineralised): 4% probability
Mean: 21,000,000 tons of Cu; 1,500 tons of Au
95% probability: 350,000 ton of Cu; 38 tons of Au
and the other scenarios

1 ton = 32,150 troy oz of gold.
