What is the paid service you use for the short interest - I would be interested in having a look? Also, do you know where they are getting the information from?
I get the short data from bloomberg which I believe source it directly from the ASX.
Short reporting to the ASX is a legal requirement, so if the short interest is in fact almost 3x as big as the ASX has, that would certainly suggest something a bit odd.
Shorting a stock is not manipulation though. There are lots of companies on the ASX with much higher short interests.
Yes - there are some rumours going around on 1PG (a lot of which are questions around why it is falling) and it is certainly a polarising stock. I meant false rumours created by short sellers that get traction in wider read press or well known brokers etc and hopefully for the shorters lead to more selling. I really don't think there is much of that going around. I think there is more confusing as to the falls rather than a false rumour. Do you think there are false rumours?
I am not negative on 1PG itself. I think it is a good concept, although unproven. I think it has plenty of cash to spend to hopefully prove up its concept. I just think it was massively over-hyped, massively over valued and well owned and execution is much harder than over hyping a stock. Whereas I don't think that is the case any more. I wrote in a previous post that at 0.80-1.00 I think it is probably an okay punt particularly with the current panic (although catching a falling knife is never a good idea).
I have no hidden agenda here. I am happy to choose 1 stock and follow it and maybe post on it. Generally I want to go against the consensus (which certainly doesn't make me very popular on this site!!), but I think a lot is learnt doing this particularly around the psychology.
To be perfectly honest I think some of you guys (definitely you included) are very good and know a lot more detail about 1PG than quite a few of the instos. Which is really good.
Anyway, I think most, if not all, of the short thesis has played out in 1PG now and most of my arguments are less valid now that the stock has fallen so much and most/all of the hype is gone. I still don't think it is being manipulated though!
